I finally finished reading The Boy in the Striped Pajamas. This book was recommended to me by an old friend and I was especially drawn to it because of the subject. I have always been interested in the Holocaust. It is quite perplexing to me that such an ordeal could happen in our world. I still have difficulty understanding and I guess I always will.
This book was written a bit differently than other books. This was written from the perspective of an 8 year old boy. Being the mother of an 8 year old boy right now, made this have an even deeper personal connection for me. The young boy is the son of an officer who works for Hitler. His knowledge of the occurrences happening around him are quite limited, but develop throughout the book.
The book is technically a Young Adult Novel, but I was still completely interested from the first paragraph onward.
This is a book that I highly recommend. I am going to watch the movie, but with reservations of course.
I would say it is a quick read, unless life throws lemons at you while reading it, as mine did.
I began a book last night that I think I'm going to put down and pick up something a bit lighter and full of fluff for a little break.
Keeping fingers crossed that I can find more time (and energy) for reading (and stitching) in the upcoming week.

I did watch the movie and I thought it was very well done but so sad.
I am reading My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Pocouti( I think I misspelled the last name)-also sad but interesting so far.Unfortunately I have misplaced it and can't find it anywhere-I hate when that happens!

I've also seen the movie (which was beautifully done) and would love to read the book. I hope you find it.
Just last night, I saw "My Sister's Keeper" which was another movie which was done very sweetly and beautifully. And now, I want to read that book.
I've just started "The Tenth Circle", another Jodi Picoult book.
My hubby and I watched the movie The Boy in the Striped Pajamas about three weeks ago. I knew how it would end about ten minutes before the movie was over. I was inconsolable! The Holocaust is the most monstrous of occurances committed in the last century. I wish everyone could watch the movie; it is a wake-up call! Thanks for sharing.
