Tomato Soup Bowl & The Flea Market

Before I share with you my flea market finds from last weekend, I have to explain the tomato soup bowl.
When I was a little girl my mother had this bowl that she would serve us tomato soup in if we were home sick. Now I love tomato soup (and mind you it must be CREAM of tomato soup, don't be giving me that watered stuff - LOL) so this became very special to me. My mother (for whatever reason) began giving me "stuff" a few years back (talk about scaring a girl) and one of the items she gave me was the tomato soup bowl. I too use it for my kiddos when they are home sick or having the blues and just needing a bowl of soup. I tell them it has healing qualities.

A couple of weeks ago my mom and her gal pal went shopping at an antique mall and my mother bought me this bowl that coordinates with the tomato soup bowl (and yes, in my family we do refer to it as such).

So, while I was at the flea market I found this dish and thought it would be awesome to fill with butter (well, margarine in my case) as I despise seeing those goofy plastic containers on a table. I had a smaller dish that I used for this purpose before, but one of my precious children dropped it and well, 'nuf said.

And so, the collecting begins. LOL

I also picked up these two quirky autumn signs that just made me smile. I'm not sure what I'll do with them just yet, but I'm thinking of using them outside somehow. This year they may just end up on a tabletop somewhere in the house - not quite sure.

I also picked up this Kate Spade bag (doubtful it's authentic, but all the tags are in place and it's quite cute - and green). My daughter is in love with it and I'm thinking that I'm going to surprise her this weekend and give it to her. I can always pick up another bag or borrow this one back from her.

And last, but certainly not least, I picked up this lovely glass dish. I've seen so many creative things done with these dishes on other blogs, that I just knew I had to have one for myself.

The best news? I purchased all of this for under $40.
