As I've been pondering all my decorating decisions and being overwhelmed by my choices and all the photographs of styles that I like and beautiful rooms, I have decided that most of all I want things to be simple. Simply wonderful, simply beautiful, simply useful, simply welcoming, simply cozy, simply organized, and simply home.
Here are some quotes that embrace what it means to simplify life.
Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful. ~William Morris
Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication. ~Leonardo DaVinci
Be content with what you have, rejoice in the way things are. When you realize there is nothing lacking, the whole world belongs to you. ~Lao Tzu
We don't need to increase our goods nearly as much as we need to scale down our wants. Not wanting something is as good as possessing it. ~Donald Horban
Simplicity is making the journey of this life with just baggage enough. ~Author Unknown
Frugality is one of the most beautiful and joyful words in the English language, and yet one that we are culturally cut off from understanding and enjoying. The consumption society has made us feel that happiness lies in having things, and has failed to teach us the happiness of not having things. ~Elise Boulding
The sculptor produces the beautiful statue by chipping away such parts of the marble block as are not needed - it is a process of elimination.
Elbert Hubbard
Our life is frittered away by detail… Simplify, simplify.
Henry Thoreau

Hi Suzann! I am trying to catch up on blogs today. Life is a bit stressful right now but more about that later and I have gotten behind. William Morris is one of my heros. Have you read about his life? He was a fascinating person.
I know that one of the ways you can simplify is to remove items from a room. Spend a week or so without them and then start putting back only what you realize you really missed. Those and the things you also really love. It is not an easy task to simplify in contridiction to its meaning.
I am also trying to be very strict and reduce what I possess. I have been selling many of my quilting, stitching and lacemaking supplies online. It feels good to know I have some money back now that I am not using the items. I have so much. Plus it frees me up emotionally in my home too. I need to do so as well as we may be downsizing once again.
I hope you are able to find the simplicity you are seeking.
Hugs ~
Heidi

Hi Suzann,
Thanks for visiting my blog. I have enjoyed my visit to your blog and agree about simplifying. It is so easy to forget our priorities and find ourselves wrapped up in things of little value.
Hugs,
Sue
