Okay, I'm not a political person, I don't ever want this to be a political blog. BUT, I'm really angry today. Our country has elected Barak Obama as our President. This is not the issue for me (okay, I didn't vote for him, BUT) because I believe that God can use any situation for His good. MY problem is that if I hear one more person claim that Mr. Obama is "African-American" I'm going to SCREAM!!!! Okay folks, he is BI-Racial. His mother was a Caucasian. I have 3 nephews and a niece who are bi-racial and let me tell you I'd be really ticked off if anyone chose NOT to recognize that. He was raised by his mother and his maternal Grandmother - let's NOT forget this.
Now, let's just all put aside what we may have wanted and pray about what we have. Let's all pray for Obama - the MAN, our President Elect, our country, our people, and our future.
Okay, I'm done. I'm just frustrated and I had to vent. Goodness I hope I'm not the only one who is irritated by this.

Funny you should post on this. My 7 year old this morning asked, "Why do they have to keep calling him the African American? Why can't he just be an American?"
Thanks honey, we needed that to be said. Why we insist on lumping everybody into a category is beyond me. If you want o identify yourself as a Texan, a Patriots fan or whatever, great. Just don't thrust an "identity" on me. I'll make up one of my own.
And a big THANK YOU to Deanna's seven-year-old for having more common sense than most of us!
Hi Suzann,
I know what you mean. They call him what they want when it helps him. Sad here today in VA. I sure love this great country of ours though divided as it remains.
Tanya
I pray for America. It's a sad day here in NY for my family. God bless this great country of ours and please don't forget WHO put us here. God bless the USA. Joanne, NY ~~
I had a 87 year old African American patient tell me today that Barrack Obama is a "mixer". When I asked what that meant she said, "He's a mix of a lot races." I asked her if she was glad he won and she "yeah, but maybe next time they will a "real" black person in there".
Isn't it funny that there needs to be any word in front of "American". And no you're not the only one who this annoys!
I often wondered why his mixed race wasn't more discussed.
Whatever the reason, I'm glad this seemingly endless election season is OVER!
Blessings.
Good, I have been endlessly repeating more or less the same here (in France) - it does irritate me that people will say things that are so obviously light years from reality and that they will not check their sources.
I'll add my prayers to yours that Mr Obama turns into a good President : he has a lot on his plate.
Hi Suzann! Ditto Ditto. I've been saying the exact same thing; it is very irritating that people are losing site of his real background just because he has dark skin! I wish him the best but more importantly I wish us the best!!lol
Thanks for being brave enough to be honest!!!! - Jeannette
Go you!!
