A couple more photos of the state capitol building.
The light fixtures amazed me.
Thomas sat for a few minutes to see what it would be like.
Then we went to the state museum.
Lots of interesting information about the state of Illinois past, present, and future.
And then we visited Lincoln's Tomb.
This was really impressive and very emotional.
I was amazed at the detail there was in this tomb.
It is under this that Linoln is actually buried.
So much to read and Thomas was certain to read each and ever plaque.
People left pennies everywhere.
Thomas left one too.
This is the original "holding tomb" that Lincoln was placed in at Oak Ridge Cemetery, before being moved into the tomb where he is now.

What a wonderful tradition of dropping pennies by the memorial!

Oh this one hit home for me. I used to live in Springfield:)
Thanks for stopping by. Lissa is just as great in person as she is on her blog. Isn't that nice to know:)
Did they tell the story of why his tomb was moved? It always gives me the butterflies in the stomach when I hear the story :)
