Kitchens are definitely the most difficult room to decorate.
I love so many different styles that I really find it almost impossible to make a final choice.
I have gone back and forth between this choice or that.
It's been awful.
Hubby finally stepped up and made a decision. He said, "Blame me if you hate it".
That has the best thing that's happened. LOL
So, the floor is chosen and sitting in a huge stack next to me as I type. Currently I'm living in an ugly mess and I have to keep focused on the end prize so I don't lose my mind.
Thanks to everyone who took the time to leave a comment with their opinion on my tile choices.
Everyone made really great points and when I weighed them all, I have chosen...
White Subway tile.
The next choice I have to make is the countertop.
This kitchen is on such a tight budget that it shouldn't even be getting done.
Seriously, we have NO money.
But, I love love love the look of soapstone.
I'm afraid to even think about how expensive this could be.
Does anyone have this? Here are some photos to drool over.
What do YOU think?

Really gorgeous photos...but again I think it comes down to how much light you get in your kitchen. I used to have very dark benchtops and they just sucked the light right out of the room. We changed them for very pale grey, almost white, and it's made a huge difference. So, what I'm trying to say is, if you have plenty of bright light, go with the dark tops...otherwise, something lighter may be more suitable. But then again. it all comes down to personal taste...ever thought about stainless steel tops?

I have the soapstone look I guess on my kitchen tops and love it. I couldn't afford granite.
I didn't want to get the other kind again, so we went for that kind.
I agree with the first person that posted if your cabinets are light pick a darker one but not too dark as every smudge will show and also we have a mixed color so it's realy easy to hide crumbs or stains.

hmmm, being that you have kids i would go with something a little more forgiving & solid like granite or even silestone...but that is only my opinion and I think as far as color goes if your cabinets are white black looks fabulous but if you don't want that dramatic of a look you could go with neutral colors...I have white and neutral, but it goes with our decor! :) Good luck!
