I have friends who swear their husbands are their best friends.
Really? 'Cause I don't think I could have a best friend that's a boy. What do they know about cramps, and laundry, and dealing with sick kids and crabby husbands?
I want someone I can commiserate with. Not someone who wants to fix every problem that I just need to vent about.
That being said, I agree with the quote. You do have to like your spouse, in addition to loving them, to make a happy marriage. Sometimes that is just easier than others...
I agree that friendship, in addition to trust and laughter, makes a happy marriage. I think if a marriage has these 3 basic, but essential elements, everything else falls into place.
