Then I got this e-mail from Restoration Hardware and it nudged me just a bit more to make this idea happen for real.
I would like to cover the upper portion of my little guy's walls with vintage maps. In a wallpaper, decopage kind of way. The bottom portion of the walls will be wood of sorts.
Hubby loves the idea, but isn't sure how to make it happen.
I'm not either.
Anyone? Any ideas how to put old vintage maps onto the walls so that they will look like a funky wallpaper? Or am I just dreaming...

Cool idea! Just thought I'd chime in with a bit of an idea and maybe you can run with it.
The map you show is awesome, but I sure wouldn't stick it to my son's walls with wallpaper glue! Why no look up some "old" maps on on the internet, copy them on some paper that is cardstock and vintage looking, and then take those pieces, perhaps ripped, and kind of use like a decoupage (sp?) with wallpaper glue. It wouldn't be a complete map, but the idea of old maps would be there....
Like your blog!

I love the idea! Doni's advise sounds good to me-good luck.
Enjoy your weekend,

It sounds like a great idea, but very messy :) I hate decoupage...too sticky and glue-y. But I'm sure it will look awesome!
Good luck with that :)
You might actually be able to find wallpaper that looks like Old World maps. It's a very popular design. Good luck!
