Random Thoughts

The other day I was at the library, minding my own business, just looking through the cd's for some to bring home when I heard this noise.  Okay, not a noise, but someone singing.  So I looked around casually and noticed a woman standing near the sheet music, singing.  So, I thought that perhaps she was looking for sheet music and her child was getting antsy so she was singing to him or her.  I took a better look to see the woman only to discover that she was alone.  She finished with that song and picked up another piece of sheet music and began to sing that one.  The woman did this for at least 30+ minutes and then just walked out of the library empty-handed.  Of course, the whole time, I'm trying not to laugh hysterically at this odd situation and at the same time looking around trying to see if anyone else sees this or hears it.  Or perhaps there are cameras somewhere and I'm on some wacky television show.  Nope, just an odd bird.  So, to all of you who go to the library thinking it's a karaoke bar, please don't - you're freaking me out.

The other night I realized that I'm really getting old and I must have lost my vanity completely (and my mind).  I can recall a day when I wouldn't have even gone out of my apartment unless I looked like a million bucks - not even to buy a pack of cigarettes (which by the way I do not smoke anymore).  So, I had to go pick up teenage daughter at her girlfriend's house and teenage son from work at the mall.  I went out with my bangs up in clips (I'm growing out my hair AGAIN), and my pajamas and not a stitch of make-up.  Had I gotten into an accident or gotten a ticket I would have died of embarrassment.   So, it made me start to wonder when I stopped caring.  It's one of those moments when you scream, "I am my mother!".

So, I'm at the mall with my daughter and we went to Hollister and I am start to discover that everything looks so tiny.  I USED to be tiny, so when did all that change?  This was another issue in my world that really made me realize that enough is enough - it's time to face the reflection and get real.  (okay, I didn't intend to sound like Dr. Phil there).  Then I decided to people watch.  Ever just stop and look around you at the people?  People kill me.  I saw a woman who really thought she was all that and a bag o' chips, except she had a hole the size of a quarter in the back of her thigh in her black hose.  Uh - honey - that looks BAD.  Then there's the much older woman who has a magic mirror.  No bra, a low cut top, and entirely too much make-up.  Now, ladies, hear me when I say that no matter how much make-up you put on, it's not spackle.  It will NOT fill in the lines to create a smooth youthful look.  And I don't care who sells it, don't wear blue eye shadow - it's not pretty.  Age gracefully please.

You with the cell phone and the make-up in the car - can you get up a bit earlier?  Driving is scary enough without worrying about you trying to talk to whomever and put on your mascara, eye-liner, lipstick, etc.  To add to the danger of what you're doing, you are always driving too slow.  Hello, they call it RUSH hour for a reason!  Put down the make-up, shut-up and drive please.

So, there you have some of the random thoughts that have run through my head lately.

I wore some pajama type clothes to pick up my 13 year old from school a couple of months ago. I was in the pick-up line in my mom-van & the van died. Totally not even making a sound when I turn the key.

My son spent the next 30 minutes screaming at me while I wandered around his school and parking lot looking for someone to jump my van. I am banned from ever coming to his school like that again!

Too funny! When I have a day like that I call it GRRRRRRing. As in, just about everything that day made me go GRRRR!!!

LOL. Anyway, on the paint colors you requested, thanks for the compliments! The colors were already up when we bought the house, but I think we have the leftovers downstairs somewhere so I will certainly try to find the color titles for you! Give me a couple days. We'll be down there putting all the Christmas stuff away, so I will see if I can dig them up for ya! Happy New Year!

Too funny, Suzann, and SO true!!! I have a friend who doesn't change out of her pjs and drives her son to the back of the school so he won't be late. I've gone out in my pjs before and yes, it screams MOM! We do what we do. Crazy as it is.

The lady in the library - wow! I'm surprised she did that for 30 minutes and no one who worked there told her to be quiet?! Our libraries would tell her to be quiet but wow - that's neat in a weird way. Maybe she does that often?! Maybe a few flakes short of a box?

Loved the post - isn't life grand?

O my Suzann! I was just thinking the same thing the other day when I saw my morning reflection!!!lol Can't answer when I stopped putting in the extra effort!? Now the singing in the library would have me in hysterics whether she had a good voice or not!!!Strange people out there. Yes I love to watch people as much as I love to shop but there are way to many "magic mirrors" out there I agree. Enjoyed this post cuz you said mostly what I'm always thinking! Have a great Sunday - Sincerely, Jeannette

I actually went to the grocery store the other day with no make up on. I still can't believe I did it. Somedays I just don't care what anyone thinks lol.

I always say "all that and a bag o' chips", and I almost fell out of my chair when I saw that on your post tonight!

Girl, we would have such a great time together, you gotta know that! We could go do karaoke at your library...c'mon, it'll be fun!

I like your random thoughts. Most of mine are centered on Edward Cullen right now, since I just got back from the theater after seeing it again (yep, the fourth time). My other sister, Rhonda, needed a movie partner...

Have a great weekend!
