Peaceful Morning Chit-Chat

I didn't sleep long, but I slept well. I feel quite rested on this Wednesday morning. I love to be up before the sun where I can enjoy a cup of coffee and the crisp morning air. So, here I sit this morning, in my comfy chair with a comfy quilt, sipping my hot coffee (flavored with pumpkin spice creamer), thinking about the day and I thought I should really not leave my blog on such a whiny note (see yesterday's post). I really hate to complain, honestly I do, but I have been trying to express my feelings on a certain matter to my husband and he just seems to have the mindset that if he ignores it long enough either I'll change my feelings or I'll forget about it. I've noticed the same thing with other things at school with PTA and what-not. I say the word "no" and yet I'm still being questioned. Kinda frustrating. But, enough of that, it's a brand new day!

So, for me fall is in full swing. The kids are back in school and activities are starting to get underway. We don't really do much, I did the over-scheduling thing when my eldest was young and I learned my lesson well. But, my daughter, who is really enjoying her first year in high school, made the flag squad (YIPPEE) and has joined the cooking club and has expressed an interest in Freshman Club as well. She's so cute. She goes to all the football games and loves all the hoopla. My oldest son is rather anti-establishment and views his final days at high school more like a prison sentence. He is excited to be going to the tour/open house/information day at The Art Institute this weekend where he plans to attend school next year. My little dude (Mr. Big) is enjoying 2nd grade, but has realized that there is more responsibility each year. His spelling words this year are much tougher than last year (and the year before) and that multiplication thing (LOL) can be rather annoying. But, he has a wonderful teacher, he goes to a great school and has some awesome friends. He and daddy (not MY daddy - LOL) are going to their first Indian Guides meeting next week. Mr. Big isn't a joiner. He's more of a loner, always has been. When we registered him for preschool and the registrar asked him if he was excited, he very seriously responded, "No mam. I'm not fond of children and would prefer to be home." This has basically been his mindset for as long as I can recall. Even at age 2 when we attended a "play-group" he came running to me within the first 5 minutes and said, "Mama, we have to leave. There is something wrong with these kids, they're running and screaming." Mr. Big is an old soul for certain, but I love him to bits.

I have my bible study which started back up yesterday. We're still studying Genesis, but we're making great progress. I've taken care of lots of doctor appointments (mammogram, gynecologist, general practitioner) and only have a couple left, so hopefully I can spend the winter months not concerned about doctor issues, but doing something that brings me joy. I so love the cold months for nesting and fluffing and being creative.

Speaking of nesting, fluffing, and being creative...
I discovered this blog that I must share. It's a Home Goods blog. I've only recently discovered this store, but I love to stroll the aisles and see what neat things I can find. http://openhouse.homegoods.com/
There are several contributing writers for this blog, so I imagine it will be always be exciting and there will be something for everyone.

Today is filled with laundry. The children have a half day at school (not sure why this time, but they do get a lot of these) so I'll be dealing with them this afternoon. I have one doctor appointment today and tonight is the open house for the high school (oh fun-lol) where parents get to go from class to class on their children's schedules. We're expecting a day filled with sunshine and the high temperature is to be about 78 degrees, so it looks to be a great day to throw open the windows, turn on the music, and dance as you putter and fluff your nest.

Now, can I get it all done before noon so I can sit outside on the porch-swing and stitch for a couple of hours? Wish me luck!
