Living Life in Murphy's Law (on Steroids)

I thought bad things came in threes?  That's what my mama always said.  Well, here in MY world (the town of Murphy's Law - On Steroids) that just isn't true.  In the past 30 days...
I took my truck in to get the oil changed and the wheels rotated.  While driving to work I noticed that my left tires pressure gauge wasn't working.  Took it in, got that fixed and now the right ones aren't working.  The dryer died (it's only 3 years old).  My dog ran away, a bird pooped on my head, and we became infested with carpenter ants and now have a pest control service coming once a month.  My chest freezer died and a week later my spare refrigerator died.  Don't even ask how much food was lost.

Just this weekend...my coffee pot died (less than a year old), the television died (less than 18 months old) and the list goes on and on.  So, conisdering I've had 2 awful things happen this weekend alone, should I be afraid of today?  It IS Monday and if bad things come in 3's and this past two are stand-alones, I should technically just go back to bed and not get up till Tuesday.
But, no one is going to do my job.  Not here or at the office.  So, I'm risking life and limb today just to function as a human.  I swear I am.

But, just so we don't talk about the catastrophe that is my life, let's talk about the fun stuff.

Friday I woke up to no coffee.  Bad coffee pot.  I drag Mr. Big out of bed and promise him breakfast at Starbucks if he will just please get dressed so mommy can get coffee.  So, I ordered 2 for me and breakfast for him.  Friday night while watching the idiot box (a.k.a. television) hubby pressed a button and poof!  Off went the picture and we were looking at horizontal colors of lines.  (great if you were a hippie in the 60's, not so good for me)  Hubby then spent an hour attempting to solve the problem.  Nope, it's dead.  Then of course we all get to listen to dear hubby stomp around and give his speech about how he's NOT going to buy another television, there are plenty of other televisions in the house and we'll have to deal with it.  Personally, other than my news and maybe 2 or 3 shows, I don't care about television, so I'm all good.  Of course, HE was hyper-ventilating by Sunday with no television in the living room.  Men!

Saturday morning, still no coffee.  I have nightmares about no coffee (and decorating, but that's a whole 'nother story) so I lure hubby out of bed so he can take me to breakfast and out shopping for a coffee maker.  We head on out to Sears and I go directly to the coffee maker I have chosen.  A woman is doing demonstrations for Keurig.  Hubby begs me to hear this woman out.  He's really hung up on my NOT wasting coffee and NOT going to Starbuck's twice a day.  Okay, he's got a point - so I listen.  This is one smart idea people!  I've been lured away to the other side.  I'm now a Keurig owner and I LOVE this handy dandy machine.  LOVE it!!

So then I know that I need some inspiration on the direction I need to go in decorating this joint.  Um, place?  No, house.  Well, I'm trying to make it a home.  So off I go, alone in the truck (or millennium falcon) to TJ Maxx, Home Goods, and Marshalls.  I hit the big time while at TJ Maxx and found something I adore!!!  Oh, forever ago, while reading two fave blogs (The Lettered Cottage and My Sweet Savannah) I was introduced to Emma Bridgewater's pottery - Black Toast...  This so reminded me of it, so I snagged it up immediately.  I'm loving it.  Pairing that up with my dream, I'm moving right along around here.  No more dilemmas or panic attacks.  But, I am so in love with this find that I want to find MORE.  I went to another TJMaxx yesterday, but they didn't have any.  Today I'll try one by work.  BUT, if YOU happen to see any of this "stuff" on your excursions, please buy me some pieces and I'll be more than happy to send you the money for the purchase and shipping right away!!!

Okay, so off to Mother's Day.  Hubby made breakfast (for the first time in 18 years) and it was delicious.  I was greeted with two bouquets of flowers, my fresh and hot cup of joe in 40 seconds, my smiling daughter and Mr. Big.  My #1 son sent me a text message at 3:30 AM to wish me Happy Mother's Day (that boy!!).  I received two beautiful cards and a new CHI blow dryer and a CHI straightener.  Can you say happy mama?  Did a couple of errands, came home, saw #1 child for a couple of hours and then did NOTHING.  Yup, NOTHING.  What a grand day!!!

So, for today, for the moment I'm okay.  But, it's Monday.  I don't like Mondays.  I used to love Mondays.  Not so much anymore.  I also used to love Sundays, but I don't have a church family anymore.  I need a church.  Note to self...find a church!!

Happy Day!!!

Your dog really ran away? That alone would send me over the edge! Sorry it's been so rough for you lately and I hope that's the end of it and you're on to happier days!

You sound just as dependent on coffee as I am! You poor thing... all those things breaking all at once. Our fridge is making funny noises and so is our televsion... and after building my house, there is no way I can afford to replace them. Fingers crossed they keep living! Your Mothers Day sounded so perfect! A-m xx

I leave the house at 7 a.m. every weekday not to go to work but to meet up with my crazy coffee group. I would miss them as much as the coffee.
